About the Artist
Wordplay Graphic creator and artist Boaz Kimelman was born in Jerusalem and, after serving in the Israeli air force for 4 years, relocated to the United States in 1981 to study graphic design; first at the Art Institute of Boston and then at The School of Visual Arts in New York City - where he received a BFA degree.
For over two decades Boaz has lead creative teams performing groundbreaking branding, marketing and fashion graphics for companies like DKNY Jeans, Disney, Warner Bros., M&M, GM, The Andy Warhol Foundation, JKL (Matthew McConaughey), Nautica and Coca-Cola, to name a few. His extensive design experience includes websites and marketing material, product design as well as logos, promotional material and graphic tee shirt collections.
In 2013 Boaz created WordPlay Graphics.com, his own unique Jewish/Hebrew line of graphic artwork and products, which combines his passion for design and typography with Hebrew, his native language. His design philosophy is based on the idea of using the Hebrew language in a way that appeals not only to the Jewish market but a universal imagery that everyone can relate to and enjoy.
In Boaz Kimelman’s own words, “Although I have lived in the United States for well over 30 years, I have remained passionate and connected to Israel in a deep and profound way. I have brought out my “artistic voice” by creating artwork that uses Hebrew letters and words. Wordplay Graphics is a Judaica brand offering a unique and bold. yet whimsical. line of Hebrew-inspired products to satisfy the desire among Jewish and non-Jewish consumers for modern artwork. My passion is bringing design to life in a way that is both fresh and new while at the same time practical”.
